Gov Wike signs two Bills passed by the Rivers State House of Assembly into Law.

The new local government law would allow the him to extend the appointments of the caretaker committees up to nine months, the governor said while speaking to reporters after signing the law.
He added that the extension is aimed at ensuring stability in council administration.

Wike blamed those criticizing the law as ignorant as he said the new law gives some caretaker committee chairmen third tenure is unfounded as the caretaker committees are not elected officials.
“Instead of three months or six months, this amended law allows the governor to appoint caretaker committees for nine months. It is not meant to keep the caretaker committees in perpetuity. Once we have elected councils, the elected officials will stay for three years, subject and for a maximum of two terms”, he said.
Responding to the opposition’s criticism of the law, the governor said “those in the APC criticizing this amendment have soon forgotten that they passed laws in two minutes while they were at the State Assembly.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to seek economic advice from a former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

An elder statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to seek economic advice from a former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, in order to rescue the country from recession.

Iwuanyanwu said with the present economic problems, no foreign investor would invest in the country. The politician urged Nigerians to generate fresh ideas rather than attribute blames and give excuses.
He spoke in Owerri, the Imo State capital, when members of the African Youth Parliament from 50 African countries, led by the Nigerian representative, Ibrahim Mohammed, visited him.
Iwuanyanwu said, “When Nigeria was in this type of mess some years ago, former President Olusegun Obasanjo called on Okonjo Iweala to help. Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan also used her to revive the country’s economy. Nigeria, at this present stage of economic hardship and downturn, should also call on Okonjo-Iweala and others for help. We are in a recession now, if care is not taken, we shall go into depression soonest.”
The elder statesman also frowned on the way sensitive ministries were merged into one, adding that there was no way such supervising minister would perform a miracle in his or her responsibilities.

“In fact, he (Buhari) should separate Works, Housing and Transport ministries and appoint a minister each for the ministries,” he said.
He advised the members of the African Youth Parliament to pass the message of peace to the youth.
“No good thing comes from destroying good things. I implore you to pass this message across, especially to the youth of the Niger Delta areas,” he added.

tecno mobile OEM

Tecno mobile OEM will be launching it’s 2016 flagship – the Tecno Phantom 6 before the end of the day. Perhaps, before the end of the month.

I also hear the tecno camon c9 might be getting another version known as the pro. But, that’s by the side and shouldn’t be taken into consideration.
At least, not yet. However, news making the round has it that the upcoming phantom 6 will be powered by a deca-core processor which would be a first on tecno smartphones.
Not only that, the Tecno Phantom 6 will ‘probably’ feature 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM as the base, with a whooping 4050mAh battery.

What’s more interesting however, is the fact that the phantom 5 maybe available in two variants.
The former packing 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and the latter packing 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM.
Of course, not much details has been disclosed yet as information is still behind closed curtains. However, I hear that the device will be sporting a different design compared to the phantom 5.

Furthermore, the device will most likely, run Android Marshmallow and on top of that, you’d have tecno’s own HiOS. A fingerprint scanner will certainly not be an exception.
The smartphone, just like it’s predecessor , will feature a 5.5inch display with maybe, a 1080p resolution.

Tecno Phantom 6 Specs
To be clear, below are the alleged specs of the Tecno Phantom 6.
SIM Type : Dual SIM
4G LTE : YES
OS : Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HiOs
Display : 5.5 IPS Full HD Touchscreen
Build : Metal body that is 4.69mm thick

Internal Storage : 32GB
Expandable Storage : Yes , up to 128GB
Back Camera : 21MP Single Camera with LED Flash
Front Camera : Yet to be confirmed
Battery : 4050mAh (Non-removable)

N.B : Please bear in mind that these information are not yet official. Hence, you should take them with a pinch of salt.
More information regarding the phantom 6 and maybe, the phantom 6+, will be communicated as soon as it becomes official.

Super Mario will be Available on the IOS platform and android too

During the course of Apple’s iPhone 7 duo launch event, one of the keynote was that Super Mario Run will be available on the iOS platform.

This is the first time Nintendo will be bringing one of it’s own to mobile.
For children of the 80s and 90s, the Super Mario game no needs former introduction. It was unarguably, one of the best games at the time. Whether or not, the game still trend that position certainly depends on you.

Hence, it’s interesting to note that we’d be having the endless runner on iOS soon. Precisely, in this forth coming holiday.
While the announcement sounded fascinating, I am sure most Android users were wondering if they will also be getting the pile.

Well, following the event, Nintendo revealed to Kotaku that the game will come to Android as some point in the future. However, no stipulated period was given.

Although sometime last year, precisely in May, the company said it plans to launch five mobile games by 2017. So far, we only have a social app called Miitomo , and maybe worth mentioning; Pokemon Go .
Pokemon Go, however, isn’t exactly made by Nintendo. The company just has a stake in the app.
Point is, while iOS users will be getting the Super Mario game in the next few weeks, Android users may have to wait longer. Nevertheless, as a consolation, Android users will still get the game. After all, it’s better late than never.

Eid-el- Kabir: Saraki Urges Muslims To Pray For Peace, Economic Recovery.

President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Sunday felicitated with Muslims faithful in the country as they celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir festivities and urged them to pray for peace and accelerated recovery of the nation’s economic.
Saraki in his Sallah message signed by his Special Adviser, (Media and Publicity), Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed to the cause of one, united and developed country.
He observed that despite the current economic challenges, the country and its people have all that is required to come out better and stronger.

He called on all Nigerians to live in harmony with one another irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation adding that the significance of the Eid-el-Kabir festival is to celebrate the true love and grace of Almighty Allah to mankind through sacrifice, devotion and faith.
Saraki said: “I sincerely rejoice with all Nigerians especially the Muslim faithful on yet another Eid-el-Kabir, which is both a period of sacrifice and obedience to divine guidance and a time to share our resources with our neighbours no matter how little.

“It is also a call on all of us to love one another, eschew all forms of violence, adhere strictly to the noble tenets of Islam and peaceful coexistence. We must not relent in being our brothers’ keeper and playing our part to achieve the New Nigeria of our dreams.
“Truly, times are tough, but we are a tough people too. Therefore, I have no doubt that we shall overcome our present economic setback sooner than anticipated, if we all commit to the ideals of nation building.

“I also enjoin everyone of us to contribute in strengthening the bond of unity and oneness that exists among us. This, I believe, will spur us to avoid negative tendencies that could derail our efforts at ensuring faster economic revival and socio-political stability,” he said.

Patience Jonathan must explain how she earned billions

The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), has said with the fresh admission by Patience Jonathan that she owns the $5m traced to her accounts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, means the anti-graft agency has the right to probe her.
According to him, if the former first lady is claiming that she owns the money then she must explain how she earned it.

The discovery of the additional amount, in the former first lady’s Skye Bank account, by the EFCC brings to $20m the total amount so far traced to her.
As part of investigations into a money laundering case against a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Jonathan, Waripamowei Dudafa, the EFCC had traced four company accounts to him with a balance of $15m.
The EFCC subsequently charged Dudafa and the four companies with money laundering.
The four companies, whose accounts have since been frozen, are Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited.

A source at the EFCC said, “While we were investigating Dudafa, we traced the four companies to him. The companies have domiciliary accounts at Skye Bank with a balance of about $15m. So, we obtained a court order and froze the accounts.
“We then traced the directors of the companies who then denied ownership of the accounts. It was later that we were informed that the accounts belonged to Patience Jonathan and that she is the sole signatory to the accounts. She was given a special card which she used in making withdrawals across the world.
“We, therefore, wondered why the accounts were not opened in her name if she had nothing to hide. In fact, we later found out that her personal account, which bears her name, has a balance of $5m. One wonders where a person, who has never held a government position, got the money from. She was not our initial target but she certainly has questions to answer.”
Reacting to the development, Sagay told one of our correspondents on the telephone that the Act establishing the EFCC gave the anti-graft agency the power to investigate anybody who is seen to have more wealth than he ought to have.
The senior advocate wondered how Patience, who was a civil servant and never held any government position, could have billions in her bank accounts.
He said, “The EFCC and ICPC Act have provisions under which they can ask the court to freeze the account of a person if a person’s capacity to earn is below the amount of money that the person appears to have.

“If you are living a lavish lifestyle and it appears you don’t have the means to have acquired the property and the wealth you have, the EFCC is free to probe you.
“If she is claiming the money belongs to her, she has put herself in a position where she must explain how she earned it.”
Attempts to get the comments of the wife of the former president were not successful.
Repeated calls and a text message sent to the Media Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Mr Ikechukwu Eze, were also not responded to as of 8:45pm on Saturday.

Bag of rice may sell for N40,000 by December – Minister of State for Agriculture

The Minister of State for Agriculture and Rural Development.
Senator Heineken Lokpobiri has said that Nigeria spends about $22bn a year on importation of foods.

Lokpobiri made this known on Saturday at a town hall meeting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
He said the development had led to the astronomical rise in price of rice and other commodities, stressing that if Nigerians failed to produce some of the items being imported, before December the price of rice would skyrocket to N40,000 a bag.

He said there was a projection that by 2050, Nigeria’s population would be 450 million, wondering what would happen then if the people could not feed themselves now.
Lokpobiri said, “For your information, we spend about $22bn a year importing food into Nigeria. We know how many more dollars … and that is why you see the price of rice going up.

“Price of rice was N12,000 some months ago, but it is now about N26,000 and if we don’t start producing, by December it could be N40,000.
“Rice matures in three months. So, this is a wake up call for Bayelsa people to take the four farms we have seriously. The federal government has four farms in the state in our records. The average land you see in Bayelsa can grow rice, so the colonial masters were not wrong in their assessment when they said Niger Delta could feed not only Nigeria but the entire West Africa sub-region.

“Unfortunately, agriculture till today, is not a priority of the Niger Delta as far as the state governments are concerned because of oil.”
He said the states in the Niger Delta had yet to give priority to agriculture the way the North-West states such as Kebbi, Jigawa, Kano as well as other states like Lagos, Ebonyi, Anambra, have prioritised it.

He said Anambra State for instance, was not owing salaries despite the fact that it does not have oil but raking in money by exporting vegetables.

OPERATION CROCODILE SMILE'S ENDING IN TEAR'S

The High Command of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and the entire membership on behalf of the good people of the Niger Delta offer our condolences to the families and Mr. President, Muhammadu Buhari, C-In-C of the armed forces of the federal republic of Nigeria, on the soldiers murdered in the ongoing military operation cum exercise codes named “Operation Crocodile Smiles”.

Mr. President from available facts, the untimely deaths of these four (4) fine soldiers in the creeks of Bayelsa and another sixteen (16) that was recorded during the first four days of the exercise along the River Ethiope, in Delta state but was earlier covered up is nothing more than act of murder.
Their death is due to negligence, administrative greed and a corruption within the military constructed and perfected by the ascendant APC political class (conflict merchants we have mentioned times without numbers) from the Niger Delta and some Abuja paid and bought up interest.

Mr. President, the worrisome dimensions about the ongoing reorganization and restructuring of the unending security operations in the Niger Delta is where two of your head of security apparatus are boasting to the minister of defense that, they have your hears.
They assured him, it is now their turn to bloat their pockets and that they can talk you to even borrowing money to sustain the insecurity in the region, which the honourable minister of defense concurred to before the ongoing exercises.
We have earlier advised against timing, strategy and objectives of the show of military might and the deployment of military hardwares to the Niger Delta suddenly when there is certainly cessation of hostilities for peace talks to commence.
But the top hierarchy of the Nigerian military led by Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, your Chief Of Army Staff was only after his pecuniary monetary gains and that of some Akpakpa- AJUDAIBO CHAMPAGNE intelligence chief who is desperately arm-twisting the peace processes continuously.
The advice is that all lives matters! Why are you in a hurry to train over two thousand military personnel for just 4 to 14 days on amphibious military exercise to occupy the Niger Delta region when the Niger Elders and stakeholders are awaiting your response for peace talks?
Have you forgotten the exploits of our great fathers during the infamous Nigerian Civil War in amphibious warfare without any military training? Is it because they were volunteers as such the success was credited to Late Lt. Col. Benjamin Adekunle and Lt. Col Olusegun Obasanjo instead of them? Mr. President as a veteran of that fateful war, you know that after all failures, the amphibious warfare and successes was under the command of Lt. Gen. Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro of blessed memories, the pride and face of the 3rd Marine Commandos (3MCDOS) constituted of able- bodied Ijaw warriors voluntarily.

They were not given any formal military training prior to that great contribution to the unity of Nigeria, but they succeeded because there were amphibious by nature. Mr. President, the truth be told, we are the “GREAT WHITE SHARKS” of the Atlantic when it come to marine warfare! “Operation Crocodile Smiles” is ironically, a simulative military operation cum exercise for waters less than 2 fathoms in depth orchestrated by the top hierarchy of the military to undermine any genuine disposition from your government towards restoration of tranquility in the Niger Delta and to exhaust your security budget for the year, except you are thinking otherwise towards peace in the Niger Delta too.
We the Ijaws and the people of the Niger Delta occurred here times immemorial. We have resisted, any attempt of exclusions in the control of our God Given Resources, from the Portuguese and British colonial trades and periods to date. We are ever ready to continue that resistance even without guns and ammunitions.
Finally, Mr. President, we want you to commission a high powered panel to investigate all processes that led to the ongoing military operation and exercise in the Niger Delta tagged “Operation Crocodile Smiles” and all the ongoing cover-ups of military mishaps that have led to more than twenty (20) deaths so far.

Mr. President, in practical terms Crocodiles do not have any capacity to swim close to the water depth small tiger sharks swim and play around not to talk of the depths of the great whites, the heart of the nation’s economic where we have overmastered.
The mission ongoing in the Niger Delta is a brainchild of orchestrated military corruption at your face Mr. President. Operation Crocodile Smiles is nothing but a conduit pipe for military contracts, political profiteerism and patronages designed for the stress of your administration’s scarce resources.

If it has any other purpose, it is satisfy the ego of a trigger happy Chief Army Staff who killed over 800 Shiite just to have the right of way to a meeting even though there were other routes to his meeting. For the records, depths of 2-3 fathoms in the Niger Delta region is likened to the waters our kids of ages between 3-8 years bathe and swarm with crocodiles, alligators and other aquatic creatures in the mangroves/freshwater swamps of Niger Delta Creeks.
