Residents doctors in Nigeria have also threatened to embark on a nationwide strike

Residents doctors in Nigeria have also threatened to embark on a nationwide strike from September 30th. this should be if the federal and state governments fail to address what it called poor state of health care delivery in the country.

This was the position of the National Association of Resident Doctors after the association’s 26 annual general meeting in Enugu.

The Newly elected President of the National Association of Resident Doctors DR. JOHN ONYEBUEZE said resident doctors are tired of working in poor conditions in hospitals and health facilities across the country.
Also said resident doctors want immediate upgrade of infrastructures in teaching hospitals.

The residents’ doctors also said they want government to take urgent action against poliomyelitis, Lassa fever and the immediate release of the report on the residency training programme.
DR. ONYEBUEZE said teaching hospitals across the country are eyesores with dilapidated beds in the accident and emergency wards, with doctors not haven pens to write or hand gloves to use while handling patients.
