Teachers in Rivers State have issued a twenty one day ultimatum to the Rivers State Government Or Risk An Industrial actions


    The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Teachers has expressed disappointment over the continued delay in the payment of salary to teachers under the auspices of the Nigerian Union of Teachers. They have issued a threat in a communiqué released to journalists at the end of its meeting in Port Harcourt.

The State Chairman of NUT LUCKY NKPOGONE said the NUT suspended its decision of no pay no work due to ongoing talks with government.
The NUT Boss in Rivers State LUCKY NKPOGONE however directed teachers across the State to resume school on the 14th of September after the Salah holiday.

The leadership of the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board UBE has appealed to the teachers not to embark on the planned strike over nonpayment of their salary by the State Government.

The Executive Chairman of the Board DR. FYNFACE AKAH made the appeal when he met with Head Teachers and Principals of Junior Secondary School in Port Harcourt at his office.
The Executive Chairman of the UBE Board DR. FYNFACE AKAH said strike is not the best option to resolve the issue of non-payment of salaries.
He assured that the issue of teachers salary in the State will soon be addressed by the State Government.

The Executive Chairman of the Rivers State UBE Board during the meeting commended Governor NYESOM WIKE for driving the education sector forward.
He urged the teachers to support the new vision aimed at repositioning the State.
